Spanish

My time here in Arequipa is passing very rapidly. After I finish this next week I will have been in Peru for one month. Learning a new language is one of the hardest things I've ever done. It seems that I have a lot of ups and downs each week. Some days I feel like my Spanish is great and others I can't understand a lick of it. I believe that learning this language has taught me quite a bit, mainly patience. For me it's learning to remain under the frustration of miscommunication and at times no communication. Please pray that God will continue to give me patience and endurance for the race set before me.

This reminds me of the word we learned for perseverance: Hupomeno (sp?) and I think of that watermelon seed being able to remain under the pressure of someone's thumb. :) I miss you Gary and I'm so excited for what God is doing through you. Love ya

bro-I miss you and am praying for you. I'm so proud of you and keep plugging away at those language studies. Know you are opening a door of opportunity with every new word you learn!
